An excerpt from a healer who is uncomfortable taking money for spiritual work, dated 7/12/14.
Does money give you pleasure? Understand that the pleasure you offer and the pleasure you receive are synonymous.
And know too that the feeling that you shouldn’t ask for money for spiritual work is an old religious belief, passed down through lifetimes, that it’s not God-like to accept money. However, certainly money is God-related when we need it and we have to have to spend – but also that you’re exchanging energy and the way that people exchange on this planet is with money right now.
So the word barter is coming up. You can think about it as a barter. Bartering is a trade. Certainly if you don’t want to exchange money, they’re saying please make a trade: “My energy for your energy,” something where you receive something back for the energy you offer.
Think about that as just the universal rule, like a physics rule. There is a cause and effect of everything. When something is done, something else happens as the result. When you give off energy, you receive something back. This is just the way it works physically on the planet. So please understand that it’s best for you to exchange something for the healing work. So if you don’t want to take money — and it is fine to take money as an equal exchange — you can decide how much it is worth to you and receive the money for that exchange — or if you are really uncomfortable with that, barter for something else.
